Bystander Intervention: Building Skills to Create Safer Campuses

Tuesday, February 16, 2021   7:00–8:00 p.m. ET

The pandemic has understandably taken over the headlines about what is happening on college campuses. However, we know that the conversation about sexual violence is still happening and student activists are still pushing their work forward. In this 60-minute session, we will focus on individual skills that can be used by bystanders to make their campus communities safer. We welcome students who might be learning about this for the first time as well as seasoned campus sexual violence prevention activists.

Goals

  • Understand how bystander intervention can be an effective tool for addressing and preventing harassment and abuse online and offline on campus
  • Discuss ways to intervene as a bystander to prevent harassment and abuse
  • Identify campus and community resources and learn how to get more involved

Presenters

  • Casey Corcoran, Youth Sexual Violence Prevention Education Director
  • L. Co (Coco), Youth Outreach Coordinator
