Free Days of Recovery Events for Male Survivors

MenHealing and BARCC staff who lead Days of Recovery events

Update March 31, 2020: Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, for the health and safety of everyone, these Days of Recovery events are being postponed. Stay tuned for new dates.

Male survivors of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse do not always know where to turn for support in their healing journeys. BARCC is here to support male survivors, and we're teaming up with MenHealing again to offer a powerful experience: Days of Recovery—coming to Cambridge on May 16 and Newton on May 17.

If you’re a male survivor looking for a deeper connection to yourself and other male survivors, this free day of healing is for you. These one-day events are cofacilitated by expert BARCC clinical staff and MenHealing clinicians. Days of Recovery are designed to help male survivors develop a conscious relationship with difficult emotions that many sexual trauma survivors experience.

Even with the individual therapy, I still felt isolated and alone at times. I used to feel like I was sitting in a jail cell with my thoughts with no one to work through them. The Day of Recovery changed that. After the Day of Recovery (DOR), I didn't feel so alone. There were others who had similar thoughts and feelings. The DOR gave me a network of individuals that to this day I still keep in touch with. —Kevin

Both days feature the same content—and they will be different experiences from last year's events, so if you've come before, please consider coming again! Registration is open to all male survivors of sexual violence (experienced in childhood and/or adulthood)—including cisgender, transgender, and nonbinary men of all sexual orientations—age 18 and older in Massachusetts.

Throughout the day, participants can expect to learn or use the following:

  • Mindfulness skills
  • Body awareness and empowerment
  • Experiential activities
  • Small- and large-group processing
