One Woman’s 90th Birthday Leap for BARCC

Most people wouldn’t think to go skydiving for their 90th birthday. But longtime BARCC supporter Elinore P. is not most people! Last week, she took the big leap, and—even more inspiring—she decided to use the opportunity to raise support for free services for survivors of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse!

In Elinore’s own words:

“[Survivors’] stories are not dismissed or ignored as they were before. The people who harassed or sexually abused them are being held to account for their actions . . . . Changes are being made in the workplace and on college campuses. Hopefully, these conditions will continue to improve, and BARCC’s free services are critical to continuing the progress I have witnessed. Thank you to everyone who is considering giving to my skydive for survivors.”

On May 27, she got in a plane with the names of all of her donors on board, and she jumped from 14,000 feet to celebrate an amazing 90 years of life. A life as a lifelong learner, accountant, artist, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A life of trying new things and cultivating many talents. She landed safely and triumphantly, and has raised almost $2,800 so far as she celebrates 90. What an inspiration!

We’re so impressed by and grateful for Elinore’s daring spirit and generosity. We wouldn’t be able to keep this movement going and continue providing vital free services for survivors without the creativity, passion, and support of people like Elinore.

It’s not too late to help celebrate Elinore’s big birthday and big jump! Watch her jump below and make a gift today.
