Thank You for Making the 19th Annual Walk for Change a Powerful Day of Unity and Action.

This past weekend, nearly 400 survivors, advocates, volunteers, students, families, and supporters joined us at Constitution Beach for BARCC’s 19th Annual Walk for Change. Sure it was a brisk spring morning, yet your warmth, strength, and solidarity reminded us why we walk: to uplift survivors, raise awareness, and take meaningful steps toward ending sexual violence in our communities.

Before the 2.8-mile walk even began, the beach was buzzing with activity. Participants created expressive signs, decorated buttons, danced to music, and visited powerful displays, including the Clothesline Project — featuring personal stories from survivors. Additionally, our Messages to Survivors wall was filled with hope, affirmation, and healing.

This year, 390 participants registered for the Walk. Together, you’ve helped raise over $110,000 and counting. These vital funds support BARCC’s free services for survivors, community education programs, and ongoing advocacy for lasting cultural change. (If you didn’t get a chance to participate in Walk for Change in person this year, you can still help provide free support for survivors by donating now!)

As always, the heart of the Walk was in the stories shared. BARCC Board Member Stephanie Brown spoke to the importance of standing with survivors from all backgrounds, especially during times of uncertainty. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden honored the survivor community and emphasized the strength found in solidarity. And Jossette Huang, Miss Worcester and a survivor herself, moved us deeply with her story and her ongoing mission to bring awareness and change.

Following the walk, participants reconnected over coffee from our sponsor, New England Coffee Co., and enjoyed music and raffle prizes. Whether you walked with friends, family, coworkers, or your dog, we felt your energy and your love.

  • To our walkers: thank you for showing up with open hearts and unwavering determination.
  • To our sponsors: To Encore Boston Harbor, Oliver Wyman, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Easter Bank, Mass General Brigham and Planning & Protection, thank you for being outstanding members of this community! Your support has such a big impact on our ability to help survivors.
  • To our fundraisers: thank you for going above and beyond to support BARCC’s mission.
  • To our volunteers: thank you for building a welcoming and empowering space for all.
  • To our speakers: thank you for your courage and conviction.
To our sponsors: thank you for making this day possible.

The Walk for Change is more than just a fundraising event—it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and the belief that together, we can end sexual violence. Every step you took brought us closer to that vision.

Thank you again for being part of this movement. We can’t wait to walk alongside you again next year at the 20th annual Walk for Change.
