Liz Speakman, BARCC’s new Executive Director

The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center is proud to announce that Liz Speakman has been named Executive Director, following her outstanding service as Interim Executive Director over the past 7 months.

Liz stepped into the interim role during a pivotal moment for BARCC and has demonstrated remarkable skill in leading with stability, transparency, and care. Her approach has strengthened internal operations, supported staff and volunteers, and ensured uninterrupted, high-quality services for survivors across our communities.

With 25 years of experience in gender-based violence prevention and advocacy, Liz brings both expertise and heart to her leadership. Her vision for BARCC’s future aligns deeply with our mission and values.

“We are so thrilled to have Liz in this permanent role. Over the last few months, she has done such incredible work within the community and among staff. We can’t wait to see her lead BARCC into the future.”

– April Evans, Board Chair.

We are excited for this next chapter and grateful for the leadership Liz has already brought, and will continue to bring, to BARCC.
