Press Release: Boston Area Rape Crisis Center Announces Annual Champions of Change Gala to Take Place November 1

The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) announces today that tickets are available for its annual Champions for Change Gala & Auction, which will take place Friday, November 1, 2019, 6:00–11:00 p.m. at the Marriott Copley Place, 110 Huntington Ave, Boston.

This year’s gala will recognize and appreciate the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority for purchasing 93–99 Bishop Allen Drive, the location of BARCC’s long-time Cambridge office and that of numerous other nonprofit organizations. By supporting the building’s continued use as a nonprofit hub, the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority has ensured that survivors will continue to have a dedicated and easily accessible space for healing in Cambridge.

The event will also feature inspiring words from best-selling author Sohaila Abdulali, a leading advocate for survivors of sexual harassment, abuse, and assault and BARCC's first full-time employee.

Proceeds raised from the event will support BARCC’s free, comprehensive direct services, public education, and advocacy work.

“Our Champions of Change Gala is always an uplifting, inspiring, and fun event because we celebrate the resilience of survivors, the achievements of our most dedicated supporters, and their impact on survivors and the broader culture,” said BARCC Executive Director Gina Scaramella. “Changing the culture around sexual harassment, abuse, and assault is a slow and methodical process. But we see today, more than ever before, that change is taking hold. That is thanks to the support of our Gala attendees who understand the need to invest in strategy and the resources to implement it.”

Benefit auctioneer Erin Ward will host live and platinum auctions that offer exciting travel excursions, delicious dining experiences, and other unique packages. There will also be cocktails, fine cuisine, and music and dancing to close out the evening.

Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available. Contact Tara McCabe at tmccabe@barcc.org or 617-682-9144 for more information.

Early bird ticket pricing is available through Oct. 1 with tickets at $225 per person and tables of 10 available for $2,000 each. Regular pricing begins Oct. 2, with tickets priced at $250 per person and tables of 10 at $2,250.
