Empowered Communities Create Change
BARCC serves 29 cities and towns in the Greater Boston Area, each filled with a multitude of vibrant communities and cultures.
We know that every community is different. That means each community has their own unique needs when it comes to addressing and preventing sexual violence. We want to work alongside you to create the best way to empower and engage your community.
Our team attends local events and fairs to share about our services and resources available to survivors and communities. Please reach out if you’d like BARCC to join your event.
Organizing
Community organizing is about creating real and lasting change for people. It brings people together around a shared goal to collectively address issues affecting their community. We want to work with you to learn about your concerns, and give you the tools to properly address them.
Do you want your community to be trained on bystander intervention? To learn how to support survivors in your life? Let’s work together to see what BARCC can do in your community.
Outreach
Do you have an event coming up? Would you like a BARCC representative to attend and spread the word about our services?
We frequently do outreach at various community events, health fairs, and more, to reach more survivors and spread the word about our services.
Support
Unfortunately, we know all too well that when sexual violence is done to a member of a community, it is like a rock thrown in a pond and its ripple spreads far and wide in all directions. This ripple reaches all those who know and care about the individuals involved or feel a strong tie to the community in which the violence was committed. These individuals often have their own difficult reactions to the violence, including feelings of betrayal, guilt, anger, sadness, and many more.
As your community grapples with how to provide support and resources to those most directly affected, it’s important to recognize the impact that violence can have on all members of the community so that people are able to come together to begin the healing process.
Whether you are a part of a faith group, school community, neighborhood, or music scene, we want to support you in bringing healing to your community and creating a culture to prevent sexual violence. Learn more about our trainings and workshops.
