Educational Workshops for Survivors in April

We're offering an upcoming series of free educational workshops for all survivors of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse ages 18 and up.

  • Introduction to the Impact of Trauma: April 2, 2019
This overview of the normal, typical, and expected impacts of sexual trauma aims to alleviate some of the isolation survivors experience. With the aid of structured worksheets, you will be offered the opportunity to explore how you connect to these impacts of trauma and think about ways to cope.

  • Self-Care for Survivors of Sexual Trauma: April 9, 2019
This workshop focuses on the importance of self-care as a part of healing from sexual trauma, examining barriers to practicing self-care that exist in all of our lives but especially the lives of those impacted by sexual trauma. You will be offered the opportunity to brainstorm and practice self-caring activities during the workshop with the hope of building a self-care toolkit.

  • Relationships and Connection after Sexual Trauma: April 16, 2019
This workshop session uses a structured worksheet to normalize the impact of sexual trauma on a survivor’s boundaries and ability to trust others. Participants will utilize discussion, written reflection, and group activities with the hope of normalizing these impacts and decreasing isolation.

  • Identifying a Therapist: April 23, 2019
This workshop session will explore participants' beliefs about therapy through discussion, writing exercises, and group activities. You will work to identify what is important to you in a therapist and brainstorm ways to assess how your specific needs related to sexual trauma are met by a new provider. When time allows, participants get receive individual support in searching for a therapist.

All workshops will be held at BARCC's Cambridge office at 99 Bishop Allen Drive, Cambridge, MA, 5:30–7:00 p.m. on the given day. These workshops will be led by BARCC staff clinicians.
